It’s official. As of September 29th, the world will never be the same again:
A while ago, I wrote about several notable individuals and celebrates that did some things that made me ask: What where they thinking?!? Recently, the same exact thing happened to several other individuals:
1. Tom Daschle:: Seriously, how does someone think they can avoid paying taxes? Especially if you are on the Senate Finance committee, and the future Secretary of Finance! Now, I can see maybe overlooking something (especially if you make a lot of money), and owe a couple thousand dollars. But, he owes $150,000! That’s more than forgetting to fill in a box. Clearly, Tom Daschle needs to get “some people,” or he needs to visit then dancing statue of liberty.
2. Michael Phelps:: Come on man! You had every American glued to their TV this summer and actually caring about swimming. First of all, I don’t think smoking pot is right. Second, even if I did, it’s still illegal. Third, if you’re doing an illegal activity, DON’T LET SOMEONE TAKE YOUR PICTURE DOING IT! This single picture has cost you millions of dollars, respect from many Americans, and cemented your legacy as the pot smoking Olympian swimmer.
3. Chris Brown:: This one is really weird. All of the details have not been released, but more info is surfacing every day. Chris Brown got into some trouble the night before the Grammy’s (allegedly physically assaulting a female), which caused him to miss out on his performance. The next day, details surface that the victim in the assault was his girlfriend pop star Rihanna. This is not good for the Double Mint, squeaky clean image of 19 year old Chris Brown. The linked website says, “At this point, Chris Brown would have been better off getting caught with a bong. At least then, the scandal enveloping his white-hot career could have been dismissed by some as a youthful indiscretion.“
Since I’m going to be out of town Tuesday, I went ahead and voted on Thursday. Although Belville may be 25 years behind the rest of the country in some areas, voting technology is not one of them. They had these sweet touch-screen computers, which made things go a lot faster and a lot easier to just close my eyes and pick a random person. But, to keep us grounded and to remind us where we are, we did have to vote in a double-wide trailer with 2 Porta-Johns outside…..no kidding.
But, as Kristen and I were figuring out if we could vote today, I started wondering what’s the big deal about having an “election day”? I know, I know it’s in the Constitution, yada, yada, yada… But, in Brunswick County, we could have voted as early as October 16th. So, isn’t it really like an Election Month?!?!
Early voting almost seems like a secret that only a few know about. Once you’re there you wonder why doesn’t everyone do early voting, and you’re thanking the Lord you don’t have to wait in line on November 4th! So, if you haven’t voted yet: 1) Get informed about who’s running by some way OTHER than the TV ads, 2) Check where and when you can go vote (even on Saturday), and 3) Get to the double wide and VOTE! But, use the bathroom before you get there to avoid the Porta-John!
